Introduction

To create my own local news radio station, and to do this i need to understand the genre of news.this means analysing the codes and conventions of two or three existing local radio stations. as well as finding out what makes the news. i will be using audacity to collect examples. it must include the codes and conventions of a local News Radio:

Title music and jingle
at least one presenter
at least two specialist reporters
at least two Outside Broadcasts
at least one interview
at least use one vox pop
some sound effects
an organised structure

1.Top story 22secs	Large scale prisoner exchange happened between Syria and turkey and they fear that 2 of the prisoners are part of the Islamic state fighters known as ISIS.	This is in the news because not only is it bad news, since one day this terrorist group will attack us. But it is also its national because this could cause issue for other countries.
2. 9secs	Trail has begun in south Africa of the British business man, Shrien Dewani who had allegedly hired a hit man to kill his wife on their honeymoon.	This is in the news because it is about a British couple who are on trial for something ludicrous especially because they just got married.
3. 11secs	Business secretary Vince cable has told the liberal democrats part that the business deficit cannot be eliminated unless they raise taxes, and accuses the conservative for trying to disguise them as Ukip.	This is in the news because it affects people in Britain, so it is both proximity and impact on people. Also because of the allegedly disguise of Ukip which causes controversy.
4. 11secs	Professor from university college London has won a Nobel prize along with two Norwegian partners for research into the brains navigation system.	This is in the news because it is really amazing since people are still learning about the brains capabilities.

My groups target audience is 'people living Maida Vale' who want to learn more about their area and whats going on, and to find out what is going on in the future, so to do this we researched information and plans made by Westminster for the people, when we searched this up on Google.com, about 624 thousand results were found in 0.42 seconds.

these sites help us find out more about what people like to listen to more, how many people actually tune into radio shows, where people listen to radio more and other questions. this is useful to us since we need to find out what news would be best to present to our audience. this way we can decide which news items we should use in our Local news broadcast.

Code and Convention

Codes and Conventions are very important to any form of media. in the News Radio genre there are different codes and convention to other types of items:

Title music and jingles are used to introduce the show and to inform the listeners that the show is starting. This is usually done with a catchy tune, so that their audience can tell what show is what just from the title music.
The reporter would introduce themselves at the beginning of the show. this is to create a connection with people. also if the news is incorrect then it gives the audience someone to blame, which is one con to being a presenter.
2 specialist reports are required. one for the interview and another for the vox pop, they are required for a different point of view on the news item.
Outside broadcasters are to get the publics opinion on the news item.
Sound effects are useful to help people understand what exactly the next news item is about.

Planning

The first thing we did for the planning was make a schedule, that way we can keep track of. this makes it easier to tell how many news items we've done and how long they are.

Programs we intend on using:

Garage band

the most vital program we plan on using is Blogger. Blogger allows us to make a blog which all our coursework would be shown. We would explain what we do each stage of the way as we progress through the creation of our own local radio bulletin. Blogger allows the examiner easy access to each and everyone of our blogs which allows him/her to mark it with ease. Since Blogger is owned by Google it is necessary that each member in our production group had a Gmail so we can associate our accounts to blogger and keep in contact

Audacity is another essential program in the production of our news bulletin. Audacity is a free audio editor which we plan on using. despite the simplicity of it, it really packs a punch with effects tab that's gives you access to over 30+ effects

Sound cloud is a online audio distribution platform which will allow us to upload any of our audio tracks that need uploading. Once its uploaded to SoundCloud it will allow us to embed the audio directly into our blogs.

Garage band is an application that allows you to create music/jingles on macs. Garage band will allow us to create our own personalised jingle and intro for a radio broadcast. It has over 1000 different instruments at the disposal of a click.

This can also be used to create sound effects for the intro when we name the most important articles of the day. this is useful because everything in this program is copyright free and can also be modified to the creators choice.

Introduction	It is [time here] and you are watching [insert name here], I’m Jaden Rigby and I will be your presenter for this week, which has been pretty eventful week for Maida Vale. Crime has risen 22%, Measles outbreak in schools, Girl has gone missing, Hackers watch British families through webcams, more secrets about Cigarettes, New housing to be built for future, and the first ever literary festival in our local area.
1^st article	Reporter- There has been an increase in the number of crimes in the past year, the capital has seen a 22% increase; other boroughs such as Barnet. Kensington and Chelsea have seen a 38% increase. Andrew Barnes is at one of the capitals busiest sights with a met spokesman. Field Reporter- Are you shocked at the rise of crimes? (First Speaker) Met Spokesman- The increase may shock some citizens but the new figures are more of an accurate recording. Reporter- however labours Joanne McCartney fired back at the claim. (Second Speaker) Joanne McCartney- If this had been a dramatic change in recording we would expect to see a one off spike. Instead what we are seeing is a worrying trend developing, with overall violent crimes across most categories on the up. Reporter- other boroughs such as Hillingdon and Bromley also saw rises of more than 25% in their violent crime figures too.	Siren Sfx
2^nd article	Presenter- An outbreak of measles in schools ‘could spread’ PHE warns. The shocking alert comes after a number of children tested positive for the highly infectious viral illness in London schools. Dr. Deborah Turbitt, deputy director for PHE urges that all children and teenagers are fully vaccinated. First speaker- We could potentially see further measles cases in wider areas of west London as a result of this outbreak we are asking parents to ensure their children are fully vaccinated with two doses of MMR. We are working with schools involved and NHS England to urgently inform parents of the situation. And to ensure that the risk of measles is minimized. Presenter- Local GP surgeries have also been alerted to the outbreak.	Kids in playground Sfx
3^rd article	Presenter- 54 people have been reported missing within the west end since 2013 and countless more went unreported. The most recent was Tania Georgeat; 19 year old from France was reported missing when family hadn’t made contact with her since October the 16TH. She was last seen in Acton on October 24. Tania has a dark European complexion, slim with long brown hair. If you have seen her, or know of her whereabouts, please call the Lambeth police at 0208 649 2113 or 101.
4^th article	Presenter- Russian hackers have been caught hacking into people’s webcams, allowing them to see your every moment at home. We sent a specialist to go hear people’s opinions on this article. OB presenter- do you feel that your webcam affects your privacy? voxpop	Record Sfx
5^th Article	Presenter- Public Health England has launched a hard-hitting campaign to highlight how smoking damages the body. This includes highlighting the multiple impacts that toxic ingredients in cigarettes can have on the body. Professor Kevin Fenton, National Director for Health and wellbeing for public health England added: " Much of the harm caused by smoking doesn't become obvious until middle age but the invisible damage can start shocking early; even by late teens. The earlier a smoker quits the better, but quitting at any age can help reverse at least some of the damage. That's why there is no time better than now to quit. Stop smoking, stop the rot. 6^th article	The mayor of London, Boris Johnson has agreed to spend £225million to Build new housing for England. £180million is going into building new houses. And £45million is going into Gentoo’s Genie, which is a program that will help people save for a mortgage deposit. These low cost housing will be ready by 2020.	Jackhammer sfx
7^th Article	Presenter-The first-ever Kilburn Literary Festival starts today and runs until 4th November, located in west Hampstead’s very own sheriff Centre. This festival includes a variety of activities for both children and adults. Now over to our field reporter. OB Presenter- I’m Here at sheriff Centre, with Samantha Taylor, tells us about the festival? Interviewee- This is the first ever-literary festival with talks to aspiring authors on how to publish your books. There is also a competition for both kids and teens. And I hope we can host it next year.

Introduction	Presenter: This is Megan wood, with Kilburn news, it is now 8 am on march 27 and here are our headlines for this morning. Local figures buck national trends, Kilburn teenagers go missing and Kilburn has a housing boom.
Article 1	Presenter: While reported crime figures are going down nationally, here in west London the trend is up, crime in Camden has seen a 22% increase over the July to December period. Met Officer Andrew Barnes had this to say Met officer: I would just like to refute, these ideas that the police are not doing their job based upon the recent statistics that crime has increased, well the reason why the crime has increased is because we have more efficient police doing their job excellently and therefore capturing more criminals. We also have a more efficient procedure of recording criminals therefore crime has increased is a positive thing and not a negative thing because we are now catching more criminals Presenter: But local councillor Joanne McCartney sees things differently. Joanne McCartney: If this had been a dramatic change in recording then we would've seen a one off spike.
Article 2	Presenter: Missing person’s data is showing a particular rise in untraceable young people. 54 under 25 year olds have been registered as missing so far in this calendar year. The latest is 22 year old Tania Georgeat. Who was last seen 3 months ago in west Acton.
Article 3	Now our message boards have been trending on the topic of invasion of privacy through our own webcams. So we sent public spokesman, Jaden Rigby to ask the public their opinion on this topic. Public spokesman: Voxpop
Article 4	Presenter: Public Health England has started a hard-hitting campaign to point out the damages that cigarettes cause to the human body. This includes highlighting the multiple impacts that toxic ingredients in cigarettes can have on the body. Professor Kevin Fenton, National Director for Health and well-being says: Kevin Fenton: much of the harm caused by smoking is noticed right away, one of the effects is tar build up in the lungs, preventing the person from breathing, but this effect and many more can be prevented if the person stops smoking immediately. So stop smoking, stop the rot.

Article 7	From today all food outlets including coffee shops to schools, will have to display the full range of possible allergens to all of their customers. In addition all those who work in food outlets and have had direct contact with the public will have had to be trained in responding to customer queries. Our health and safety correspondent Jason Mendonca has been visiting cafes on Elgin Avenue. H&S correspondent: Can you tell me how you have prepared for the new allergen regulation. Interviewee responds H&S correspondent: why thank you so much for your time.
Article 8	Presenter: A major careers fair is being held at Willesden college campus tomorrow, march the 28 from 9 to 6. This event is open to the public and will feature professionals from various industries. It will be an opportunity to meet experts and learn new skills.
Article 9	Kilburn resident Peter Williams has been told by Michael Fitzpatrick of coca cola London that the fungi floating in his apple juice are perfectly edible. Williams say he noticed multiple pieces of fungi floating at the top of his innocent drink. What he said was. Interviewee: I took it home and was about to open it when I saw some fungi at the top of the bottle. One small one and one big one. Luckily I hadn't open the bottle so it was still factory intact.
